On International Women’s Day 2026, OWIT UK joins organisations, businesses and women around the world in recognising the powerful role women play in shaping global commerce. This year’s theme, Give to Gain, reflects a reality visible across international markets: when women contribute their expertise, enterprise, leadership and collaboration, economies become stronger and trade becomes more resilient.
As one of the world’s leading trading nations, the UK depends on innovation, entrepreneurship and international partnerships to drive growth. Ensuring that women are fully engaged in that ecosystem — as exporters, founders, professionals, advisors and leaders — is not only a matter of inclusion. It is essential for strengthening the UK’s global competitiveness.
At OWIT UK, this principle is embedded in the practical work we deliver through our three core pillars: trade digitalisation, finance and trade facilitation. Yet there is still progress to be made. Women remain underrepresented in export leadership, visibility, international trade negotiations and access to global supply chains.
