On March 14, 2023, the UK Department for Business and Trade hosted a reception for visiting Canada delegates and female entrepreneurs with the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service | Service des délégués commerciaux at Lancaster House in London. 

Members of the OWIT UK were there representing UK #WomenInInternationalTrade alongside colleagues and women business owners from our partners Savvitas, from the #ICT and #lifeSciences sectors with a focus on the environment and sustainability.

Lancaster House was a magnificent backdrop for the celebration of women in trade from both nations, and the business and networking which took place.  

Speakers included the Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP, Secretary of State, the Hon Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade of Canada, and Gareth Davies MP, Permanent Secretary. They spoke of the progress of the Canada-UK Free Trade agreement and the potential through the Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Also present were members from the #Gender Team at the UK Department of Trade, Maria Miller, Joanne Freeman, Amaar Faaruq among other officials from both the UK and Canada.

OWIT UK regularly engages with OWIT Ottawa and OWIT  Toronto together with chapters across the wider Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT), as we further the conversation on removing barriers and facilitating women in trade everywhere.
